Changyoon Jeong received his Ph.D. in the field of environmental chemistry from the University of Nottingham in the UK. Currently, he is an associate professor at the Louisiana State University Agricultural Center. He is also an adjunct professor in the Department of Biological Science, College of Arts and Sciences, Louisiana State University at Shreveport, LA. He is a member of Science Advisory in the Louisiana Climate Initiatives Task Force (CITF) organized by the Louisiana Governor’s office. His primary research areas are water quality management and soil and water conservation to improve crop production under different management practices, including biochar application. Research focuses on the impact of biochar/hydrochar application in water quality, greenhouse gas emission, and crop production. Recently, he evaluated the pelletized biochar with fertilizer as a slow-release fertilizer to improve nutrient use efficiency and mitigate greenhouse gas emissions. He conducted several biochar projects funded by the USDA, NRCS, and Louisiana commodity board.
